This website is devoted to exploring the idea of selfishness. I call this exploration “The Selfishness Project.” My interest in this topic is motivated by my study of novelist-philosopher Ayn Rand. She thought selfishness was a very important—but very misunderstood—concept, and that the misunderstandings have had disastrous results. She thought a correct understanding could have enormous benefits, for individuals and the world as a whole. I want to help people reach a better understanding of selfishness—and related concepts, like self-sacrifice, selflessness, and altruism—through the sort of dialogues you can find on this website.
I have studied many years at the Ayn Rand Institute (in the Objectivist Academic Center undergrad and grad programs) and completed a PhD in philosophy at the University of California, Davis (2019).
